9th-12th Grades

MICS0015Honors, Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement (AP), and STEM courses provide accelerated studies for students of exceptional ability and motivation.  Students explore areas of particular interest through the variety of electives offered.The high school program at Merritt Island Christian School concentrates on a core curriculum with a traditional college preparatory course of study.  Students take courses at levels appropriate to their abilities.

During the four years of high school, students complete a course of study that prepares them for college and life’s challenges with confidence and discernment.

Kindergarten-6th Grade

All subject areas are taught from a Biblical worldview including mathematics, science, Language Arts, reading, history and geography, and media and technology. Intermediate grades 4-6 rotate classes with teachers instructing them in specific subject areas similar to an Upper school schedule in a modified approach.The elementary program at Merritt Island Christian School provides academic instruction for grades kindergarten through sixth. The Preschool Academy

Preschool-feature2The goal of The Preschool Academy is to prepare students to enter kindergarten with the readiness skills to succeed.  Offered in a nurturing and caring environment, a Bible-based curriculum with a strong emphasis in phonics is taught.  The curriculum is complimented by activities to grow and develop each domain of the whole child.The Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program (VPK) for 4 year olds also includes computers in each classroom, allowing students to use an interactive, self-paced software program to further reinforce reading readiness, early writing skills, and beginning math concepts.  The preschool curriculum is supplemented with Spanish on a weekly basis.

    Homecoming festivities will be held the week of October 3-8. The Homecoming game will be on Friday, October 7 and the Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, October 8.     Student in grades 7-12 will work with their classmates to decorate their SCHOOL SPIRIT banners for Homecoming Week. This is part of their SPIRIT STICK competition and all banners will be displayed in the Atrium during Homecoming week! GO COUGARS!

  • PSAT Testing

    The PSAT test will be administered to ALL MICS sophomores and juniors on Wednesday, October 19. This test date is set by the College Board. Students should not be tardy on this day since once testing has begun students will not be allowed to enter the testing room. The PSAT is preparation for the SAT test, and scores from the junior year are used to determine qualification for National Merit Scholars and other college scholarship opportunities.

    There will be an Honor Roll Breakfast for all students in grades 7-12 who made the Principal's List/Honor Roll the first quarter on Thursday, October 20th beginning at 7:15 a.m. DUNKIN DONUTS, milk and juice will be served!

    Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. Students may wear RED SHIRTS on this day.
