9th-12th Grades

MICS0015Honors, Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement (AP), and STEM courses provide accelerated studies for students of exceptional ability and motivation.  Students explore areas of particular interest through the variety of electives offered.The high school program at Merritt Island Christian School concentrates on a core curriculum with a traditional college preparatory course of study.  Students take courses at levels appropriate to their abilities.

During the four years of high school, students complete a course of study that prepares them for college and life’s challenges with confidence and discernment.

jrhigh-featureAcademic studies at the middle school level allow students to begin to apply their general knowledge toward more focused areas of study.  Success begins in focusing on critical thinking, decision making, study skills, and personal organization.  The middle school curriculum is a more progressive, academically enhanced program that allows students to transition to the challenge of honors, dual enrollment, and AP courses when they move to the high school level.The social and physical changes taking place during middle school provide students a unique opportunity to engage and direct their emerging energies and abilities toward academic, spiritual, and social development.

Kindergarten-6th Grade

home-slider-elementaryStudents receive daily Bible teaching and attend chapel once a week. All subject areas are taught from a Biblical worldview including mathematics, science, Language Arts, reading, history and geography, and media and technology. Intermediate grades 4-6 rotate classes with teachers instructing them in specific subject areas similar to an Upper school schedule in a modified approach.The elementary program at Merritt Island Christian School provides academic instruction for grades kindergarten through sixth. The faculty is comprised of qualified and experienced professional educators who love Jesus Christ and are committed to student achievement.

The Preschool Academy

Preschool-feature2The goal of The Preschool Academy is to prepare students to enter kindergarten with the readiness skills to succeed.  Offered in a nurturing and caring environment, a Bible-based curriculum with a strong emphasis in phonics is taught.  The curriculum is complimented by activities to grow and develop each domain of the whole child.The Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program (VPK) for 4 year olds also includes computers in each classroom, allowing students to use an interactive, self-paced software program to further reinforce reading readiness, early writing skills, and beginning math concepts.  The preschool curriculum is supplemented with Spanish on a weekly basis.
