Merritt Island Christian School envisions students who are deeply rooted in their faith, confidently walking with Jesus Christ, and equipped to lead lives of purpose. Through intentional spiritual formation, rigorous academics, and Christ-centered leadership training, we aim to prepare our students to impact their communities and the world for the glory of God.

The mission of Merritt Island Christian School is to lead students to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, inspire them to academic excellence, and to equip them to impact their community through the biblical principles of character, leadership, and service.

The Strategic Plan is an example of a cumulative effort of Merritt Island Christian School. Our overall goal is to continually modify, improve and enhance both spiritual relevance and academic rigor at MICS, and Christian relationships.

MICS is also a member of National Alliance of Christian Schools (NACS).

1. MICS students are proficient in all academic disciplines. (Academic Thinking)

Data: Renaissance Star Reading and Math, ACT & SAT suite of assessments. Student achievements: Honor Roll, Principal’s List, Bright Futures and Merit Scholars.  

2. MICS students discern and commit to developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. (Skill Development)

Data: Bible Courses, chapels, chapel journals, HS retreat, daily prayer, discipleship groups, Spiritual Emphasis Week and “See You at the Pole.”  

3. MICS students will know God’s Word, rely on it, and live it out daily. (Spiritual Formation)

Data: Bible Courses and assessments, mission trips, service projects, student Bible study, baptisms, grade level chapel programs and student led chapels.  

4. MICS students are conscious of the value of every human life because God created each person in His image. (Worldview)

Data: Connection with biblical worldview in all subject areas, Bible courses, Chapels, and Creationism in Science curriculum.  

5. MICS students will develop an understanding of past and current history, including biblical history, and world cultures. (Academic Thinking)

Data: Bible courses, Chapels, HS retreat, daily prayer, “See You at the Pole” and biblical worldview taught throughout all History courses.  

6. MICS students are led by God to seek to live the virtues of the Fruit of the Spirit. (Spiritual Formation)

Data: Letters to the United States Military, providing baby supplies for the Agape Women’s Center and House of Hope, collecting monies for missions, Spring Break Mission Trips, creating Thanksgiving Baskets, and filling and collecting Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. MICS is a Christian-based campus that is nurturing, wholesome, and loving. We offer Christ-centered counseling with students and staff. We encourage students to accept God’s gift of salvation and to be a Christian witness. Faculty and staff are role models, helping our students grow in their faith.  

7. MICS students will have the opportunity to develop their character, leadership, and service skills respectfully and with integrity in relation to their community. (Spiritual Formation)

Data:  Service projects, Honor Societies, provide service-based projects, Guatemala Mission Trip, Service Hour Requirement, High School Leadership, Student Athlete Leadership Team (S.A.L.T.), Student Government, canned food collection and recognizing our Sheriff’s Department.
